Yeah, I'm probably a book snob, but this is all kinds of wrong, story-wise.

Pretty good if you're a fan of Herbert. As a movie itself, probably not going to be that great if you're not familiar with the novels.

Only watch the first episode and then make up your own continuation, the other two episodes hurt the overall experience.

I am such, such, such a fan of the Dune books, but who the hell thinks that this miniseries is any good?

Surprisingly faithful adaptation of books 2 and 3 in the Dune series. Remains far truer to the source material than the previous series and Lynch's version. Thankfully, the budgetary restraints of the first series were also resolved in this one. If you enjoy the Dune mythos, this is actually an excellent addition to the saga, and captures the feel and the spirit of the story and the characters. Fingers-crossed for a God-emperor miniseries.

Herbert's dune is a complex thing to bring to movies, this does a good job, though ultimately it is a rather weak interpretation

The original Dune mini-series was better. Not because this is a poor adaption but because past the first Dune book I doubt anyone could possibly adapt it for any other medium. There is just far too much philosophy and psychology involved in the books than can ever be appropriately translated into a film or mini-series. With that said this does do a very impressive job of it and is certainly entertaining to a Dune or sci-fi fan.
