The weakness in this film for me was that the pacing was very slow and that there wasn't enough meaningful interactions between the boy and his sister.That being said the two young children gave somewhat good performances and the race at the end was good.

Reminded me a lot of The White Balloon. Majidi's approach is a bit more stylized, but contains the same endearing simplicity and compassion. Majidi has a wonderful way of drawing you in to the minutiae of people's lives, filled with minor setbacks and triumphs. The actors, particularly the children, are all terrific and relatable. I'm somewhat inclined to say the film could use a bit more depth, but I believe the economic themes may be more meaningful to an Iranian audience.

Cute, but the plot could have used a little more complexity. It seems like a Disney story in Iran.

Touching portrayal of a young boy and his sister overcoming personal difficulties in impoversihed Tehran. Thoughtful and acute direction. Beautiful cinematograhy. A good companion film to The White Balloon.

Lays on the melodrama thick and plenty

I strongly believe everyone should see this movie. You will leave a better person.

If there was not Forrest Gump,the running scene in this film would be the most dramatic running scene in the world.

Basically it's just another impoverished children movie. The best of that sort of movies (Loach's "Kes" is my favorite) are highly realistic and make poignant social observations, while in Children of Heaven, Ali and Zohre's misadventures are just an improbable streak of bad luck. Most of it, while very watchable, lacks ingenuity. It's the goofy (and memorable) ending that makes Children of Heaven worthwhile.
