Summary: A group of teenagers that work at the mall all get together for a late night party in one of the stores. When the mall goes on lock down before they can get out, The robot security system activates after a malfunction and goes on a killing spree. One by one the three bots try to rid the mall of the "Intruders". The only weapons the kids can use are the supplies in other stores. Or...if they can make it till morning when the mall opens back up (imdb)
A sometimes effective slasher variant. Splashy FX -- including a memorable exploding noggin for _Re-Animator_ co-star Crampton -- and a terrific supporting cast help a lot.
So 80's it hurts. The premise is goofy as hell but at the same time kind of amusing. Though, unfortunately, people running away from slow robots with worse aim than a drunk Stormtrooper can only get you so far. And apart from an exploding head, the kills weren't really memorable. I did get a good laugh out of "Let's send these fuckers a Rambo-gram".
One of those films where I can't tell whether it's being deliberately bad for laughs or genuinely awful. Bunch of teens get slaughtered in a shopping mall by security bots. Bots that can't shoot straight and move at 2mph. The 80s cheesiness and some hilarious dialogue make this far more entertaining than it has any right to be.
So bad it's hilarious. There are some lines in this film that are just so awful and so funny at the same time. The acting is quite poor and so is the story, although one might say it's an allegory for society's increased reliance on computer-controlled devices I wouldn't say it's a very insightful take on it at all. The only time you should see this if you want to see something so bad it's hilarious and, in that respect, it's pretty good.
A bunch of stupid kids party in a mall after hours and get attacked by the psychotic robots who act as mall Security. Relentlessly stupid with bad acting and massive logic gaps, but it has KILLER ROBOTS on a rampage, plus Barbara Crampton's boobs.
