Covers a lot of the same territory as the Grey Gardens, ie can a narrative film can some how expose more truth than the documentary that inspired it? Gandolfini stands out amongst his so-so costars.

gandolfini somehow terrifying even when playing a mellow 70s documentarian; the always-underrated diane lane is terrific

Could have been better but it was still interesting. I think its more fascinating if you already know the story of the American Family. If this is your first time hearing the story you'll only be getting a fraction of it.

With a great cast acting like this, it could have been much better, somehow the emotional part was a bit shallow..The resemblance to the real family is amazing..Diane Lane is extraordinary

The acting was good, but nobody really stood out. I also felt like they only scratched the surface of the human side of the story. Above-average movie overall, not great.
