(Contains spoilers not elemental to the story) I enjoyed watching the movie, but truth be told I don't really know why anyone made it. It is not nearly as good as City of God and the plot, while being kind of original, is not really going anywhere. So some people die, others go to prison, so what? They weren't essential characters. And I never really got to care for any of the characters, which was kind of important to the story. But still I liked the movie as a whole. Don't expect much, though.

Even though this film is not as good as City of God, it is still a great film. Another interesting story and two great lead characters. Definitely check this film out.

While a good ending for the series (so much better than the last episode) and served as a nice extended episode, it's mostly forgettable. Best of all, it really created some great moments in the relationship between these two characters.

More of a thematic and aesthetic continuation of City of God than an outright sequel, which i think actually works for the better. More (superficially) character-driven and less Scorsese-indebted than the first film (which i guess is why all the fanboys don't like it as much?), this is still brilliantly shallow entertainment of the highest degree.

Definitely not as good as City of God, the plot is contrived in several key places and the characters seem shallow, not 90210 shallow, but not fully developed by the writer shallow.

Great film and conclusion to an outstanding television series. Not sure how well it holds up on it's own, certainly the minor characters are way underdeveloped if you haven't seen the TV show. Shot and directed beautifully. PS, this is NOT a sequel to City of God, nor is it nearly as good as that films too-good-to-be-true brilliance.

really wish i had seen it with subtitles instead. I really cannot believe there are no black voice actors out there. Very creepy to hear it all wrong.

*City of God* was a punch in the stomach. *City of God* is a much weaker film. It pulled its punches rather than kicked ass.

Maybe its because I haven't seen the series, but I felt the plot was a bit of a mess, with flashbacks popping up everywhere and a gang war that kind of came out of nowhere. Also: take it easy with the color filters, it was almost like watching 3 episodes of CSI Miami at the same time.

this movie is in every single way lesser than city of god, but even a poor carbon copy of that movie is still watchable, and that ending was pretty good. a badly made movie, whose story and plot do much to overshadow the poor quality.
