Clown

Brings cotton candy blood to the clown eating kids table. So I guess the new Spiderman won't be horrible.

Uhhh.... this is actually really good, original, subversive and clever and super underrated.

OK, it is a horror movie from Eli Roth, so this is going to have teeth and be a bit vicious, visceral and unforgiving, but I have to say, the plot lends itself to a bit of a dark comedy type of thing. Not here. Not a single moment of this is played for laughs, and, I think they've missed a trick there. Also, I do think that it gets a little too mean-spirited when kids start being offed. I know that sounds a little bit silly coming from a horror fan, but that's what I think.

Worth watching for the expanded clown mythology/source story alone!

Eli Roth had one good movie, then he turned to torture porn for a bunch of his directorial outings, it was tired, boring, and hardly very scary. Turns out, as a producer only, he won't turn things to crap. "Clown," is a short, underfunded, and slightly run of the mill horror flick that benefits from some genuinely scary character design, great make-up, and some decent story.

It's 'The Santa Clause' but santa is a demonic clown. Amusing but it doesn't dethrone 'Stitches' as my pick for recent clown-based horror.

By all rights I shouldn't have enjoyed this as much as I did. I mean, it's about a dude who puts on a clown suit, can't remove said clown suit, and becomes a horrifying child-eating clown demon. Wait, I take that first statement back, this has EVERYTHING going for it! And, surprisingly, it doesn't disappoint. Despite a somewhat lackluster climax, the clown guy is genuinely scary and there are a few very effective scenes (the double circular saw self-beheading attempt is gold).

Had to watch it just for the concept of "Hey, remember that episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force where Carl turns into a clown? Why don't we make a movie like that?" Some fun ideas like his blood turning into bright pastel watercolor.

It's actually pretty entertaining for Tim Allen's A Santa Clause but with a clown instead. Obviously, it only has so much going for it with its hit or miss cast, and ridiculous premise, but watch it with the right people or even alone, and you'll see something you like. Honestly, the Chuck E Cheese scene is worth watching this movie for; the tension was real.

An amusing, original mythology spun around clowns that's executed with more fun and awareness than your average VOD-horror-gimmick fare. Loses it's puff halfway, but that's better than expected.

I don't have the time to list the continuity problems, the bad psychology problems, the contrivances, or how the movie doesn't quite follow its own rules and setups regarding the 'costume'. It keeps a few points for having a slightly novel idea. It just doesn't go anywhere good with it.

The movie takes itself way too series given the goofy premise. People don't act like real people in this which made things more frustrating.

Just get a thesaurus and read every word under 'dull'.

Harvey Weinstein was unrecognisable. A wonderful biopic!

Tons of fun up until the rather anticlimactic ending. Somewhat disappointing in the gore department, but I suppose not even Eli Roth can get away with graphic dismemberment of children. But having Peter Stormare play an unhinged former serial killer turned clown hunter named Bert Karlsson? You can't top that.
