Summary: Amateur plumber Cluny Brown gets sent off by her uncle to work as a servant at an English country estate. While there, she becomes friendly with Adam Belinski, a charming Czech refugee. She also becomes interested in a dull shopkeeper named Mr. Wilson. Belinski soon falls in love with Cluny and tries to keep her from marrying Wilson. (imdb)

Disappointing for a Lubitsch. Not particularly funny, not very successful in other ways either. Worst, I find hard to swallow the gorgeous Jennifer Jones' romantic interest in the nauseating, insufferably obnoxious Charles Boyer.

A somewhat charming minor Lubitsch film with a sophisticated and smooth performance by Boyer. The dialogue, though, is desperately, self-consciously over-written, and Boyer and Jones (who is beautiful as usual) have absolutely no chemistry.
