It's racist as all holy hell to the point where it's uncomfortable to watch and yet you can't deny the animation talent shown on screen.

Oh man. It's an over-the-top racist caricature, but I can't deny how delightfully insane and funny it all is. The "Murder Inc." truck advertising a dollar for killing anyone, half price for midgets, and Japs for FREE is one of the funniest things I have seen in ANY cartoon, Looney Tunes or otherwise. Not to mention So White is one of the hottest cartoon chicks of all time. It also features outstanding musical numbers, dances, and an insinuation that the black dwarf has a giant dick.

Stupid and racially insensitive black version of Snow White...but man, "So White" has an absolutely smokin' body for a cartoon chick from the 40's. Betty Rubble, you have been replaced.

Disgustingly racist but I'm not going to pretend it wasn't somewhat entertaining.

According to this movie, no one likes the Japs! Funny, though, how even the most racist works of art can be as well made as this.

You _could_ just about make an argument for this being simple caricature, rather than out-and-out racism, but it's still very unfortunate indeed; besides, the comment about "Japs" on the back of that Jeep is most definitely racist. If you removed the racial material, it might be a decent short, and in fact it has received a lot of praise. Me, I'd rather not see it again. Ever. Also, "Coal Black" is actually called "So White", so the title isn't even accurate.

It's a shame that the racial stereotyping is laid on here so thick, because it's an interesting little cartoon. There's some funny bits of comedy dispersed throughout this short, yet unfortunately, the rest is cringe worthy.

It's utter lack of PC-ness gives a glimpse into racist 1940's America. It makes me appreciate being born in the 80's.

Not all that good.. Just.. meh. Dull.

While the racism is, let's face it, always going to be the main draw of a short like this in the age of political correctness, there are many jokes here that go beyond laughing at the darky stereotype. Treat the racist parts for what they are -- the product of a less enlightened age -- and you'll see that it's a superior film from the Warner Brothers stable.

People make such a big deal about this one because it was impossible to see for decades and because it's racy and racist. It still sucks

It's an absolute masterpiece, and it breaks my heart that people can't see it because of the now politically incorrect content.

I don't even know how to think of this. I can enjoy racist jokes, but this wasn't funny anyway, so I guess it's bad in addition to being terrible.

Legitimate cartoons don't get much more horribly racist than this, but there in lies the draw. Coal Black is like watching a train wreck, you simply cannot turn away.

While the animation was sound, everything was moving at such a frenetic pace I could hardly tell what was going on (even the animation style is racist in and of itself). But at least it doesn't JUST mock southern African Americans and their male libidos - the Japanese and little people aren't spared, either!!
