The singer of the theme song is great. She emotes, "Coffy bay-bee, gentle as a sooonnnng!" And then there's Pam. yeah - "she's a liberated woman", alright. She just doesn't quit. Wonderful.

This isn't a great film, but Pam Grier just makes my jaw drop. That woman is basically sex on legs, and has so much attitude. And the hooker brawl was amazing.

Pam Grier totally steals the show, thanks to looking sinfully good and shooting some no good drug peddlin' suckers in the goddamn face. Righteous. The dialogue doesn't really sparkle and the plot progresses a bit slowly and predictably, but hey, boobs!

An often hilarious, over the top, fun movie with some of the greatest titties ever committed to film. None of it really makes any sense but it doesn't matter because it is so awesome. Coffy is the color of your skin!

One of the best blaxploitation films around. The lynching of King George is brutal!

Pam Grier is hot, yes, but she's generally pretty great besides that, convincingly combining vulnerability with strength. Indeed, Coffy has equal parts exploitation (like the wowing catfight where every blouse is ripped open) and empowerment (criminal male asses are kicked left and right), and there's something unfalteringly satisfying about that balance. Especially since Jack Hill doing it is naive, there is not the cynicism of postmodern retro throwbacks like Tarantino's.

The sleek, sable soundtrack is so chock-full of funkalicious wah-guitar and breakneck bongo beats that it gave me white man whiplash. Do you like your Coffy black? Yeeeeeaaaaaah.

Coffy is fucking badass, fucking gorgeous and has a lot of character. Damn, even me, as a female, was impressed by her looks. Cheesy soundtrack though, but that makes it fun. Very entertaining. That bitchfight was awesome, and extremely hilarious. Tits were flying off the screen almost!

Quintessential exploitation film, with pimps, drug dealers, crooked cops/ politicians, cat fights, blood, death, and sex. Best of all, Pam Grier exposes her luscious, naked body repeatedly. However, the two best actors were "King George" and the bald hitman; Grier is the worst actress ever. The story is as predictable and ridiculous as they come; at one point, a cop has his front door broken into and thugs walk across the hall and beat him down before he can move two feet to get his gun.

Bad acting, great attitude.

Is the hotness of the lead actress ever enough to make a bad movie good? In this case, FUCK YES! In fact, it makes the movie great.

There's definitely a visceral joy in watching a righteous woman shoot a pusher with a ridiculous gun, and it's really hard to tell whether one should feel guilty about that. The film constantly toes the line between exploiting and fetishizing its star and setting her forward as a shining example of feminine sexual agency. Regardless, it's very fun to watch, and Pam Grier is a true star.

Not truly good in any meaningful way, but of course people don't like watching old blaxploitation flicks because they're good, they watch them because they invoke a specific mood and era, which Coffy does wonderfully. 70s Pam Grier is sinfully hot and frequently nude, and her brawl with a whole room full of enemy hookers (revealing each one's breasts upon dispatching them) might, in fact, be the greatest scene in film history.

While it suffers at times from sluggish pacing, this is a hell of an exploitation film with an aching melancholy and anger that places it above other kitschy blaxploitations of its kind. Pam Grier kicks ass.
