A deliberately-paced, off-beat character study. Costas follows his protagonist from squalid slums to sterile apartments, reconnecting with friends and family as he struggles to make meaning of his life. It's as unfettered as anything I've seen, not just in narrative but in style (long, static takes and stark chiaroscuro lighting). But despite its glacial pace, it's a strikingly evocative and memorable film. A very impressive accomplishment, if not easy to love.
