An exquisite, somber and strange animation, Coraline is as painful as entertaining, just like the two worlds and the girl's alternate parents.

Beautiful animation carrying a terribly tired and predictable plot.

Ok. As an animated film it's great. But I read the book years ago and had higher expectations concerning the voice acting/creepiness. It all sort of fell flat where I wanted it to pick up. A congrats is in order though to Henry Selick.

A very engaging and enjoyable film, Coraline is beautifully animated, but doesn't rest on those laurels. Coraline herself is a character you enjoy travelling with, while the world she inhabits is both dull and charming at the same time. Coraline's discovery leads to the type of world beloved of animators, where the unexpected is to be expected, and visual gags are thick and fast. However this saccharine sweet image is beautifully offset and investigated through the film.

Spectacular animation and design. The dark style is a good antidote to the cutesy over-friendliness found in most children's animated films.

Properly creepy with a love & respect your "real parents" moral, Coraline is surprisingly relatable and speaks to oft held beliefs of children that will likely not be unknown to any viewer.
