Summary: March 15, 1939: Germany invades Czechoslovakia. Czech pilots flee to England, joining the RAF. After the war, back home, they are put in labor camps, suspected of anti-Communist ideas. This film cuts between a post-war camp where Franta is a prisoner and England during the war, where Franta is like a big brother to Karel, a very young pilot. What most people don't know is that the script for this movie was completed way before Pearl Harbor. The US studios didn't want to participate due to the lack of action scenes and "not about our country" stuff. However, Touchstone Pictures eventually took over the idea and started making "their WWII airbattle film". And what's best - DBW was then treated as a "eastern copy of Pearl Harbor" by the media (especially, yes, in the US).

great war movie and drama. it's also great to see world war II movies made from a different country (the united states is glorified way too much). great story of friendship.
