Stallone tries to save a bunch of irritating, ungrateful douchebags from an underwater tunnel... or something like that. Pretty stupid, but watchable.

OK injured guy, we can leave you here to die slowly as the tunnel fills up with water or I can put you out of your misery. Only I don't feel like doing the second thing. See ya!

Daylight is a pretty uninteresting film. The cast is good, and it's not an annoying movie; it just isn't very entertaining. Crap!

Less like a typical Stallone “blood and thunder” effort and more a (very welcome) throwback to the more absurd elements of the 70s disaster movie cycle (you even get play "guess who is going to be Shelley Winters” at one key moment!) Like DIE HARD meets THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE and the light-hearted, jolly escapism that implies; moves nimbly on its feet, giving Stallone a refreshingly laid back hero role – and the explosion that sets the film in motion is an exciting (and terrifying) set piece.

The only people who could’ve been the bad guys for Stallone to crush with rocks or whatever are blown up in an over the top explosion and burning up in that explosion is also any sense of fun I thought I was going to have. “Hold your breath” so you’ll pass out and hopefully wake up when it’s over. I loved that every 90s film had a love theme.

This feels like it was made a century ago, before "Don't you die on me!", "I'm just slowing you down" and other classic bits of script filler became the stuff of jokes. Notable for containing some of the most expository goons in the history of crime. "Ey, careful, this toxic waste is very illegal!!"

Intense disaster drama. Stallone actually gets to play a real character and not a brute for once. There's no time wasted, the movie gets into first gear right away, some scenes are super intense and the viewer doesn't get treated like an idiot - a rare thing for 90s action movies. It's not a great movie, but all the hate feels unwarranted.

Some 'disaster movies' are more disastrous than the disaster they are about. This is one fine example. So far, the worst Stallone movie I've seen - and that's an achievement!

big, dumb, disaster flick staring Sylvester Stallone. it's stupid but watchable and the musical score is alright. A riff-able film is there ever was one, worth seeing with friends just to see how stupid it is.

Why do people hate this film? Honestly watchable and I do appreciate a 90's flick anchored mostly by practical effects. Stallone also gives a committed performance the music theme is quite memorable.

Viewed July 18, 2021. The set-up is rough, but once Stallone gets in the tunnel, this has a lot of satisfying special effects spectacle and broad, disaster movie character detail. Stallone's performance is legitimately good, too; between this and Cop Land, he excels in these roles as beaten down men not living up to their potential.

When an explosion closes the tunnel under the Hudson River in New York on both sides, a small group of survivors is trapped. Former Medical Emergency Chief Kit Latura (Sylvester Stallone) is the only one with the know-how to rescue the victims. At the risk of his own life, he manages to join the group of survivors and does everything he can to get everyone back above the ground safely.

Sly was the Bruce Springsteen of action films: the rich working class man. And like the Boss, the richer he became the less convincing his performance was. He plays a heroic cab driver (formerly a medic) in Daylight, which is essentially The Poseidon Adventure in a traffic tunnel. Much has been said about its wild implausibilities, but even the small details aren't right: at one point Hedaya calls Stallone a 'kid' even though he was pushing 50 at the time of filming. Case closed.

I always felt this was one of the better action/disaster flicks. The confined spaces give almost a sci-fi feel at times, and although the characters are shallow stereotypes, there are plenty of them and the film shows a variety of perspectives before becoming a one man show. Stallone gives one of his less meatheaded performances, and the action is grandiose and takes on diverse forms, from water set pieces, to fire, rocks and human stunts. Could have benefitted from less expositional dialogue.

Daylight is a poor disaster movie and one of Sylvester Stallone's weakest. It could of been exciting but the only word that comes to mind is dull. Stallone gives a forgettable performance but carries the film reasonably well. The special effects and script are awful and there are large chunks of the film where nothing really happens. Viggo Mortensen is frustratingly underused and the wrest of the supporting cast is weak. Bar one good set piece featuring a wind turbine, the wrest is forgettable.

Movie doesn't really go anywhere interesting. Random characters are thrust together in the new york tunnel as things go bad. Admittedly the short introduction for each character is a strength, but short-lived. Stallone plays a suicidal rescuer who has no real plan until he gets inside.

This movie is so full of lame action movie cliches that it wouldn't even have been good in 1985, much less ten years later when action films should be held to a higher standard.

A decent disaster type movie with a very good cast. Sure it was predictable and sure you know who is gonna live and who is gonna die, but this is pretty entertaining for a Stallone flick with some decent tension thrown in. The movie is a bit long and at times iv very dumb, but Stallone doesn't play a super hero type guy. Viggo Mortensen was very underused in this movie as I would have liked to have seen more of him in this.
