The light segment in Arcand's satirical trilogy, Days of Darkness shows an intellectual man trapped in a burocratic job and a typical post-modern family, and the only way he can escape is through repetitive fantasies and dreamy situations. Funny, but less provocative than you would expect from its premise. I guess the Coen brothers did much better in a film just like this one, A serious man.

Not even close to what I expect from Arcand, I enjoyed the show. It can be considered in the trend of American Beauty, Happiness. Quiet easy to swallow, something that was existent in previous Arcand films is missing here. And in the end escapist fantasy doesn't sum upto something better than a tv show.
