I didn't know there was such a thing as a pretentious heist picture, but here it is. Entirely too smug and determined to impress from the word go, talky, and featuring numerous plot threads about which I didn't care the least bit (especially the one about so-and-so being gay, which must have seemed really out there in 1968 but which looks ridiculous now). John Barry (RIP) appears onscreen conducting his own music; indeed, his score is one of the few virtues of this production
