Bacon is awesome as a family man out for revenge!

I kinda dug this, some crazy ass revenge stuff going on in this thing. Bacon is surprisingly good as a crazy veangeful dad.

Like everyone else has said, Kevin Bacon is as expected and everyone else is terrible. I enjoy John Goodman in most things, but his character has almost no depth here (and that's a running theme, none of them do). Everything is black and white, and Garrett Hedlund is very annoying as the super evil gang leader. If you're looking for mindless gritty BS (lord knows I am every now and then), this will subdue you for a little while. Even with that criteria you can do much better than this.

Definitely underrated; if you're looking for an ultra-pulpy, borderline-grindhouse revenge thriller, you owe it to yourself to check this one out.

Cool visuals, John Goodman and a lot of ick oddly don't add up to a good movie.

all I can say is I enjoyed the movie underrated yes but bacon has his own style you can't please everybody

Awful writing. Kevin Bacon is his usual wooden self in the lead. The ending and John Goodman's small role are the only redeeming factors.

In the wake of the foul Harry Brown's success, proper appraisal of James Wan's Death Sentence will prove useful. Wan successfully bestows raw emotion and human feel upon his grim, vengeance-driven film whereas Brown and its Van Damme-brand brethren distort the significance of their many gunshots and open, bleeding wounds. If occasionally too on-the-nose thematically, it's this sense of life (as well as death) that distinguishes Death Sentence from callous garbage like Harry Brown.
