Just okay. Produced right before the Hays Code, the love triangle of Cooper, Marsch and Hopkins is allowed sexual innuendo. While interesting as part of film history, it's a rather tame and never really funny affair. It's decent, though.

Despite the subject matter, a somewhat tame comedy that should have had a raucuos Sturges treatment rather than a sophisticated Lubitsch touch. However Cooper and March deliver fine performances and Hopkins is a treat, but both in front of and behind the camera, everyone involved has done better work.

Love triangles are often over dramatic but this one works perfectly because of the friendship between the two leads. Great comedy mixed with a surprising amount of innuendo and three leads that are incredibly enjoyable to watch.

Fabulous, one of my favorite Lubitsches or shall I say Hechts/Cowards - renowned writers here at their very best. Funny and sweet and daring for its time. Miriam Hopkins rules.

Noel Coward and pre-code - this is a sophisticated and witty movie. Fredric March and Gary Cooper are fantastic - all three leads are fresh and full of exuberance. Any flaws are those that are typical to older movies - production problems and slight "staginess." But the writing, acting, and pacing are all as close to perfect as you can get.

I liked Cooper here, who has a lightness I haven't seen in him elsewhere. March has a Jack Lemmon-ish quality to him, and Hopkins is quite funny and alluring. Classic comedy doesn't usually get me that excited, but I still enjoyed it. Not enough to want to see it again, but at least nothing irritated me about it. There's a pre-Code frankness that's bawdy without being crude, and I wonder if the storyline (either from the film or the original Noel Coward play) was an inspiration for Jules and Jim
