Summary: A rather condensed documentary about the friendship that developed between Godard and Truffaut, their years at Cahiers du Cinema and influence on the French New Wave, the history of their films and their relationship with Jean-Pierre Léaud, and ultimately, their eventual (and eventful) falling-out. It's certainly informative, but too distant and lazy to cause any emotion or make you want to see any of those films. A doc about New Wave should be a bit more cheerful.

Didn't quite show the magic of the New Wave. But it's about one of my favorite cinematic movements so I, of course, loved the interviews of the actors, critics, and directors of the New wave.

Very cursory overview of Godard, Truffaut, and the New Wave. Should have been more interesting than it was.

As far as filmic technique goes, it's not particularly remarkable. But I love watching filmmakers talk about films. This movie made me want to watch a movie.

"Makes the concurrent careers of Godard and Truffaut, and their unforgettable milestones, seem like dead history rather than vibrant art." - Joseph Jon Lanthier

Two in the Wave makes for a richly detailed footnote to a golden age and stillgolden principles. But it's also a winning and necessary corrective to our current barbarous culture.
