Summary: After witnessing a murder, a high-powered estranged couple from Manhattan must kiss their big-city life goodbye when they enter the witness protection program. The duo is forced to move to Wyoming, where they have a tough time adjusting to the rhythms of small-town life in this charming comedy.
I left the cinema before the end of the film as I couldn't bear it. It was painfully tedious and totally predictable. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Takes an old concept and plays it out exactly the same way its always been done. There is nothing new here, except maybe less chemistry than you would expect from this kind of movie. Wilford Brimley has somehow obtained immortality, he will outlive us all.
It's surprisingly easy to want to like this movie, but exceptionally difficult to actually do the deed. The supporting cast -- especially Steenburgen, Elliott and Moss -- are likeable, but there's no spark between Parker and Grant, the script is somewhat dodgy at best, and the whole thing unfolds with a tedious (and extremely by-the-numbers) inevitability.
This movie is utterly predictable and boring. The few scenes that make you smile at most are extremely forced. Hugh Grant is getting old and probably should stop playing these characters, he is become a cliche in these kind of roles.
Well, it's not as bad as you may have heard. Grant's reeking insincerity is rather unbecoming in the role of a marital penitent and supplicant, but the increasing creases in his face add poignance even to insincerity, not only to ingratiation. Lawrence always cares enough about the work to employ a topflight cinematographer. This one, Florian Ballhaus, applies a high shine.
Without being insulting or cringe-worthy, this film is just plain bad. It consists of seemingly never ending bland dialogue between leads, not to be outdone by the worst chemistry i've seen in a while.
