A truely classic action film, had everything you would ever need to make it entertaining. One of bruce's all time best. Love this film.

I have seen it at least one time too many to still be impressed by how it shaped the future of mainstream action movies. On every account is either great, or at least very good. There are only a few John Woo early movies that I enjoyed more than this one (when it comes to actioneers).

A great Christmas film.

one of the best action movies ever made. Smart, taut, tense, funny. Executed perfectsly by Mc tiernan, who does a magnificent job of making this such an intense, fun, claustrophobic yet intelligent roller coaster. Seen it many times, still is a lot of a hell of fun! Should be appreciated by both, action and movie buffs alike.

this movie is the blueprint to how a action movie should be made. It has the right amount of character build up, the right amount of humor and its just a over the top action fest...great movie

Action-packed and well-executed, this film has excellent performances from both Willis and Rickman, enacting a script that is written almost to perfection. It is held back only by the weakness of some secondary characters, especially the incompetent police chief cliches.

Why don't the other action movies get it? Guns, sex, explosions, one-liners, and social relevance are useless if we don't have someone to root for. The stakes for John McClane are in the heart of every red-blooded American male: family, career, survival. With a relatable protagonist, the action writes itself. Consequences are real; McClane transforms from a clean-cut to a bloody mess, but he never loses his humility or his humor. Rickman et al form help anchor a simple, tight story. Yippykiyay.
