Entertaining medieval tale. A nice mix of adventure and intrigue with wonderful production design and effects. Breaking it up into small acts really helps keep the pacing brisk and the viewer focused.

The character Siegfried has to be the dopiest great hero of all time. He plays like a stereotype of what everyone hates about Germans; I can easily imagine him getting up at 5 am to line up for bread rolls AND ENJOYING IT.

While the fantasy plot is shallow, simple, and honestly quite stupid, the set design, cinematography, and editing tricks are stunning, especially for a film of its time. It also brings out some sort of childlike glee in me to watch this sort of dumb swords-and-sandals type of epic, no matter how stupid.

Almost as beautiful and entrancing as Metropolis. The plot is standard folklore-type stuff, but it's told so well that one doesn't mind the lack of originality.

It's so hard to imagine how in the world Fritz Lang could effectively create these sets, special effects, and high-end production values this early in film's history. His films are literally decades ahead of the competition. Siegfried is excellent adventure fare with a great story and arresting visuals. Truly a masterpiece, to say the least.

Slow to start, reluctant to finally end, but everything between is pretty damn good. Some masterful mattes make for spectacular establishing shots. Recommended.

Excellent atmosphere and special effects (for the period) in this archetypal mythological tale.

Astonishingly tedious and silly for a movie hailed as such a masterpiece. That dragon at the beginning looks like Droopy Dog. I felt sorry for it as Siegfried killed it
