Summary: Carl and David, two boys flying a small aircraft over the ocean with their father, crash land near an uncharted island. The boys swim safely to shore, but their father unfortunately drowns in the crash. On their own, the brothers explore the island and soon discover it is not only inhabited by people, but by dinosaurs as well! While the place seems easy enough to get used to, the boys must find a way of returning to their home. (imdb)
A well done miniseries, surprisingly close to the books. The special effects were good enough, and the acting was a little better than ok. A home run for Hallmark, as a side note, if you like the miniseries then you will love the tv series.
An entertaining miniseries, lots of fun, with some surprising depth. Maybe not the best actors ever or Hollywood-level special effects, but I really could have cared less. Being transported to this land of supposed harmony and dinosaurs (some of whom are librarians!) is more than enough for me.
I loved this when it first aired and recently saw it again & was highly impressed! Aside from being hilarious & cute, sweet & touching, the film is surprisingly philosophical! Really intriguing points are raised about what Dinatopia is about. In the beginning it appears that it is the brothers, Karl & David, who need to learn & grow, but as the film progresses, we see that maybe the Dinatopians must learn from Karl and David as well. I really can't recommend this highly enough!
