Summary: A young doctor returns to his New England home town after a long absence. He visits with the town's kindly old physician, Dr. Cook, a man he has admired since childhood. Another bland TV movie. For one thing, the romantic subplot is totally not necessary. For another, Burl Ives played Dr. Cook on Broadway, so naturally that's who I've always pictured; Bing Crosby does not work in this role AT ALL. Another good play totally screwed in the transition to screen
