The Dolittle idea was at the beginning of the franchise very thin. So why oh why did they think that the daughter could carry a movie on her own?

Obviously no match for the first two films but still a worthy addition to the Dolittle series. John (Eddie Murphy) is no more so its his daughter Maya (Kyla Pratt) that takes the lead. The storyline is simple and slightly predictable but still harmless enough. Maya is likeable enough as were some of the other characters, while being very stereotypical (fat kid, nerdy kid, etc). Overall its what you'd expect from a straight to DVD release but fans of the first two films will be happy enough.

IMDb informs me that this movie was supposed to have a theatrical release, but it was demoted to straight-to-video at the last moment. That about says it all, I think. I've seen saturday morning cartoons with more interesting plots.

Shockingly horrid, in fact so bad that even Murphy is entirely abscent. In a pathetic attempt to grab the remenants of potential cash available for the series, the release of this film is the signature of the revamp placing a teenager in the role previously taken by a semi-competent actor. We've all seen it before, we all know what to expect and yet this tripe goes on being produced. All that I can hope by the end of this rambled review is that I never have to see the likes of this again.
