It was cute, and managed to hold my attention through two episodes. But it's Joss Whedon, and it stars Neil Patrick Harris who apparently has a lot of cache these days, so a lot of people love it. Meh.
Probably could have given it a higher score, but I always give short films lower scores than they probably deserve. Regardless, it's quite funny and worth the watch if you have 45 free minutes.
I'm clearly missing something here? I seriously don't get the wankfest over Neil Patrick Harris for a start, he really isn't that funny or particuarly talented! I mean, this okay for what it is, with some watchable performances and some very mildly catchy tunes, but a PSI of 86? You're all mad, or high... or both?
Honestly, I'm hard-pressed to find many films that are this damn-near close to being perfect. The songs are brilliant, the script is utterly hilarious, the acting feels genuine. This is easily both one of the greatest musicals and one the greatest superhero films ever produced. Not only that, but it's incredibly convenient 42 minutes long. My fifth favourite film of all-time.
My favorite musical. The songs are awesome, the jokes hilarious. Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion are perfectly cast. It doesn't get much better than this.
Great stuff densely packed in about half an hour - this musical never gets boring or drags, it's just loads of fun to watch, and, obviously, to sing along ; ) Very charming and definitely worth the time watching.
Loved the music, loved the deliberate cheese, loved NPH. I didn't really like the ending, but I can understand why the story ended that way. I hope there's a sequel soon, because when it ended my first thought was, "Wait! That was it?"
I know it's not perfect, but I'll be damned if it isn't one of the most incredibly enjoyable things I've seen in a long time. The script is incredible and hilarious, the songs are very good, and all the performances are solid. Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion are absolutely amazing. Gold. Why are people hating on the third act? It's in my opinion the best and the end is fabulous, but then not everyone gets Whedon's endings..
No, of course this movie isn't without flaw. Can I think of any at the moment besides a grammatical error in one of the newspapers? Nope. The music is addicting. Neil Patrick Harris is brilliant, very entertaining. Actually, the entire cast is excellent. I can't think of one moment in the film that I thought they could've changed or edited. It is my choice musical and the first one I'll recommend if asked. I can only wait patiently for a sequel which can't come soon enough.
Joss Whedon is the master. NPH makes this film awesome. His singning voice is phenomenal as well as his performance. Such a simple idea, yet Whedon executes it so well you will be loving this film within 5 seconds of it starting. It is not surprising with this cast how awesome this movie is. The acting is top notch, seriously one of the better projects I have seen.
Really, that's it? Boring, predictable plot, lousy, lame songs, atrocious acting aside from Neil Patrick Harris, and painfully bad humor? I enjoyed the ending, which was unexpected, but that's about it.
What can I say, the show is all Joss Wheadon and crew. It has great music, great writing, and an ending that will surprise you (if your new to Wheadon that is). Plus NPH has some damn fine pipes.
