So I'm pretty sure Austin Powers borrowed its soundtrack from this movie. While fitting in some scenes, groovy 70s music really doesn't work for vampire fight scenes & satanic rituals. But I guess that's camp for ya.

hilariously off base, but pretty damn fun in spite/because of

Going in, I was expecting a cheesy fish-out-of-water, "we're out of ideas" horror crap fest like Jason Takes Manhattan, where a famous horror icon is put into an unfamiliar environment with zany results. What I got instead was a pretty decent Dracula story with a surprisingly suitable setting. I especially enjoyed Cushing. But the movie has two fatal flaws: horribly out of place music that ruins the mood, and a disturbing lack of Dracula. He was in, maybe, five scenes.

Hippies vs. Dracula... lame.
