I like that there's a group called People Against Goodness and Normalcy. You don't get that many cut-and-dry criminal syndicates anymore.

An average 1980s comedy featuring a surprisingly good pairing of Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks. And yes, at the time, you too probably thought the bigger star of the movie was Dan Aykroyd.

Aykroyd sure looks like he is having fun with his stiff posturing, staccato dialogue, and supreme eyebrow acting. Hanks hadn't found is rhythm yet but he is goofy enough. The plot is 80s trash but then, on the other hand, Danny Coleman is talking with an insane southern lisp.

Fun self-referential cop comedy. You've seen this many times before but it still hits the spot. I wish Tom Hanks went back to comedy. Fav scene: Hanks reciting laws/regulations like Aykroyd's character.

I was hoping for some sort of hidden gem, but his movie is just confused. Dan Aykroyd's spot on Joe Friday impression mixed with the very dry deadpan humor almost made me think this was more of a serious homage rather than parody. Outside of Aykroyd and Hanks' committed performances, the rest of the cast is kinda just there to help facilitate this surprisingly plot heavy screenplay. Ultimately Dragnet is a very meh movie. Nothing really sticks out that much positively or negatively.

I have considered myself an honorary Person Against Goodness And Normalcy ever since I saw this film. Lots of dopey stuff, but this comedy hits the funny bone enough times to be worth seeing.

Dan Aykroyd is excellent and Tom Hanks is Tom Hanks, meaning incredibly enjoyable to watch. Some of the dialogue is just perfect, like the line about We Are the World.

Begins promisingly as a kind of affectionate parody of old police films, with Aykroyd as an anachronistic straight laced detective completely out of tune with the decadent freewheeling 80's. The scenes with him clashing against his surroundings work best, and Aykroyd is playing to his strengths, suggesting that he might have been a better news broadcaster than an actor.Shame that at some point it settles for being a routine buddy-cop comedy, and Plummer is a thoroughly unengaging villain.

Fairly un-energetic comedy fodder that misuses Aykroyd and Hanks, mostly though Morgan and Plummer. The first half hour or so is the best part, but then it lags and loses it's charm. Aykroyd's character is awesome in theory, but simply doesn't have the comedic ammunition required to carry an otherwise flat outing.

I may be in a minority, but I think Dragnet was one of the better comedies of the 80's, taking the straight-laced crime drama of yesteryear and dropping it right on its ear. Dan Aykroyd at one of his comedic heights...and Tom Hanks, too, I guess.

Aykroid and Hanks playing their favourite and defining characters from the 80s, namely deadpan fast-talker and juvenile charmball respectively. Their rapport is funny enough, but the story is simply too silly to warrant a view.

A horrible attempt to update what to me at least was a horrible TV show. Sadly, Aykroyd is perfectly cast

A dad film, which means a copaganda comedy with two very charismatic males leads, way too many ladies in suggested posses and a virgin. Still, it was pretty funny

Strikes an appealing tone but doesn't try hard enough. One or two too many plot turns so it drags.

boooooring. Hanks can't capture the comedic madness of Bachelor Party twice. And thus begins the downward spiral of Aykroyd's Career.

This movie hasn't aged well at all. It has every 80s cop comedy cliche you could cram into it coupled with a bland, predictable story and a lot of jokes that fall flat. Not totally a waste of time, but not very funny either.

Never seen the TV show but have always enjoyed this late-80's pastiche. It's a fun, funny ride with great leads (I still reckon Tom Hanks was at his best in these early comedic roles) and a plot that keeps things moving throughout. Christopher Plummer hams it up a treat as the baddie too. It's very 'of its era' - which can be both praise and condemnation - but for me that extra nostalgia factor just adds to its charm.

I like both of these actors, alot. This should have been a very good, vey funny film. Instead, it was mediocre and forgettable. I would like to have seen these two together in another vehicle.
