Last entry in the series, and it's about time. Everybody involved is obviously tired, especially Rathbone.

Rathbone and Bruce go through the motions in their last outing as Holmes and Watson, but it's all a little underwhelming compared to some of their earlier efforts. There's no real mystery to the plot, the villains are all rather bland and it seems incongruous to me that Holmes ends up solving the case thanks to a stroke of luck rather than any logical deduction. Pretty forgettable, really.

as the last rathbone holmes movie i commend the dedication to the series, and as it comes to a close i'm quite impressed with the quality it leaves the series with. it's a fairly lukewarm movie, but fifteen entries in i'd expect the degradation to be phenomenal. overall this is a pretty decent movie, and if you compare it to "the hound of the baskervilles" it's awesome.

The plot is rather obvious from start to finish, but nonetheless a rather entertaining film.

In truth, a kind of lukewarm ending to the Rathbone Holmes series, with an utterly generic femme fatale villain, Watson in full-blown complete dumbass mode, and the villains placing Holmes in just about the funniest (to quote Dr. Evil) "easily escapable situation involving an overly elaborate and exotic death" I've ever seen. Still, it's got some charm and some puzzles and a dude gets his ass killed with a throwing knife through the neck.

An intriguing mystery that too soon becomes a simple and predictable plot. That Holmes would never think to alphabetize music notes is simply beyond belief. As well as the trap defying his elementary deductions. A poor note to end the series on.

Mediocre case. Holmes spent hours figuring out what to me seems obvious.
