Since Lynch seems to have left directing alone, I honestly would like to see him fuck around with making Flash cartoons more and just goof the fuck out.

When I show people an episode of Dumbland, then tell them it's the work of legendary director David Lynch, their usual response is: "Is this some kind of joke?" The answer is yes! It is a series of short Flash animations carefully designed to come off as crude, crass, childish, and absurd. But they're still Lynchian at a basic level: like Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, it's a deconstruction of small-town life, and despite its simplistic nature, it's one of Lynch's most satisfying works. Hilarious.

Minor work screened for the sake of completion. Some of the scenes are absurd and humorous, but on the whole it's just stupid. I like to think Lynch is trying to trick us. Maybe it's a commentary about the cache of a highly regarded director's name, regardless about what project it's attached to.

Some episodes are pretty funny, and the ants are fantastic. It definitely gets better as it goes along. On the other hand, not really worth watching unless you want to see what David Lynch would do with simplistic Flash animation and silly voices. Who am I kidding, EVERYONE wants to see that.

I hated it at first, and most will probably hate it in the end too, but after giving it a chance I ended up liking the combination of horrible drawing and utter randomness. Comedy isn't really Lynch's strength but this one works on some level.

Dumbland circles in the same field like The Angriest Dog in the World or his eralier shorts. It's based on repetition and the most simplest output. But the stongest part of the shorts are rythm and soundtrack. It's sure absurd and animaly violent animation but there is a familiar small town lifestyle behind. Mood and human voices (all by Lynch himself) are amazing. And not to forget the presence of a dog.
