Poor Brandon Routh. Just... just stop man. Admittedly, this wouldn't have been much better with anyone else. All you really need to know about this film? Pensive closeup "I told you... I... I can't have a partner..." cue wince, remembering. It did keep my interest all the way through and I didn't get too bored despite the hack cliche of it all so that is something.

Dylan is a private investigator who has a colored past with the thriving vampire, werewolf and zombie communities in New Orleans. He stumbles onto a plot to resurrect the demon Belial, and has to stop it with his zombie sidekick. Hilarious movie that is like a grown up version of Monster Squad with cool creatures, funny one liners and pro wrestler Kurt Angle playing a werewolf named Wolfgang. Belial looks awesome, too.

While it's not as terrible as reviews might suggest, it's far from being great. Routh overplays the seriousness, the noir voiceover feels like a heavyhanded cliché, and -- while Huntington is by far the best thing here, playing the comedy sidekick role extremely well -- the film is let down by a pretty shaky plot and dialogue overall. Nice idea, but lazily done.

Weird script & stranger direction leads to a very odd film. The film is a goofy, gothic horror mystery that just doesn't gel.

It's a cool movie, has a few fresh takes on evil, a nice plot and because it doesn't need to be horror or thriller, the mystery part comes out nicely.

Brandon Routh really drags down this movie down with his boring acting. The writing is actually somewhat solid, but Huntington is the only actor who can execute it to any degree. Despite it's multiple flaws, Dylan Dog has just enough to make it possibly justify the time spent watching it.

I like Brandon Routh. He's been good in Superman Returns and Chuck but this was some bad casting in hiring him. The plot mixes equal parts Frighteners, Death Becomes Her and Blade into a real mess of a screenplay. Could've been B-grade fun but instead is just forgettably passable.

I dunno; maybe you've gotta be in the right mood, but I found this pretty irrresistible in a corny, grade-Z, "USA Up All Night," sub-Bruce Campbell kinda way. Routh's undeniably quite bad, but Huntington's hysterical, Briem's hot, and Kurt frigging Angle's in this. Plus, you've gotta admire the shamelessly el cheapo early-80's retro special effects. Far from a good movie, but I want to see it again. Preferably after midnight.

even though routh gives an essentially lifeless performance and this movie squeaked into the theaters with little recognition and a minimal budget it ended up being a fairly impressive monster mash movie. the plot and writing are the saving graces, and huntington's acting and character as marcus is the shining gem of this movie.

I liked the environment and a fresh way for old vampire genre, but the plot was told in the most boring way. The ending fight's got some highlights though even that was watered.

I don't know anything about the source material but I think it would have been cool to see Bruce Campbell play the lead. I guess time travel would be involved since we'd need a younger Bruce to accomplish it. So there you have it - vampires, werewolves, zombies, ghouls, demons and now time travel. What else to say about this one? Learning how undead New Orleans works was kinda fun. Should there be a sequel? I say let sleeping Dylan Dogs lie.

Dylan Dog is basically a lackluster version of Whedon's Angel. It's not as fun or as funny but admittedly the action is about par. Let's be honest, people watch Whedon for the fun and funny, so when you take that out you basically end up with this (or Dollhouse) which are pretty bland and boring. Still, some of it manages to illicit a laugh but they're too few and far between.

As a DD fan I thought I'd hate it but i didn't. Yes Routh's performance is not brilliant, and again yes, it is not as half dark as the comics. But if you take it as a kind of DD spoof, i think you'll have fun as I did. Action and fun is generally OK, there is a fine supporting cast, plus there are small nods to the original DD. Not great but not bad either.
