The story is completely ridiculous, even by action-movie standards, and, judging by the length of the average shot, the editor has a severe case of ADHD.
For the third time in a row, I find myself enjoying a D.J. Caruso movie in spite of myself. The direction is solid and the excitement intensifies throughout (although there is one car chase that tries too hard to ape Paul Greengrass's style and ends up bordering on incomprehensible). The thing about Eagle Eye is, once the "secret" of its premise is revealed, it establishes the rules of the concept, and then doesn't break them. Although I'll admit the crane scene is kind of pushing it.
The last D.J Caruso / Shia LaBouf outing was Disturbia, which was miles ahead of Eagle Eye. Despite not being able to match their last film together, Eagle Eye entertains. Even if it's story is dumb and it takes some seriouly hideous turns. Grade: B-
Partially interesting action and Shia LaBeouf acting very good in cyber mumbo jumbo story of almighty HAL the computer who overrules the entire United States. Imaginary terrorist flick.
A bit over the top at times and the plot isn't all that great either, but it's not really that sort of movie. Enjoy it for what it is, an action packed popcorn movie.
A loose adaptation of Asimov's short-story 'All the troubles of the world', a Multivac tale it reminded me lightly and seems to be the main idea (mis)used by the team. The movie is not too bad, it's entertaining, but it seems to have unnecessary action for what it tells and it's more interested in that than any of the implications of what it's happening deeply, something the short-story did. So another wasted sci-fi movie, and another short-story you should read if you haven't.
really, really inplausable, unbelievably so. but none of the actors disappoint and it's action packed. if you just let go of how unrealistic it is and treat it like a sci-fi movie of a parallel universe it's definately not the worst thing you could do with two hours of free time.
Apart from the last 30 minutes which featured one of the biggest 2001 rip-offs you'll ever lay your eyes on, this was a fun ride...kinda hectic but mind grabbing. But what happened to Spielberg, the person behind Jaws, Gremlins and Jurassic Park ?
