while the choice of the villains is interesting, everything else about this film is cliche. in its attempts to be profound, it felt more like an updated version of the slasher film.

It was engaging, but mainly because I was waiting to see what uncomfortably sickening torture I was going to witness next. More frightening than most monster movies due to it's realistic antagonists (especially for those in the UK). The ending sequence is particularly unnerving and thought-provoking. A fairly good film, but by no means great, and often felt childish in the extent of its violence.

A very plausible real everyday threat, suspension of disbelief is not even an issue for this one

Kudos to the filmmakers who proved that gritty exploitation type films did not, in fact, die out in the seventies. Some minor (and arguable) writing points aside, a strong, realistic, and (dare I say it) plausible horror film with some cringe-worthy moments.

One of my new favorites of the horror genre. Brutal, disturbing and with an amazing twist ending. Kelly Reilly is really an actress to watch as she gives an amazing performance as one of the victims. The kids performances are brutal and hard to watch but well worth it. Highly recommended!

Eden Lake is a smartly shot movie that aims to be both subtextually sociological and vstylistically thrilling. had it not been for its fond use of horror/thriller movie cliches; eden lake's sociological aspect would've been more in the forefront, adding value beyond what it presents. with things how they are however, eden lake remains as a movie that is very successful at making its audience feel the way it wants them to feel, despite not being a classic for the ages.

This is disturbingly realistic and really brutal.

It's another fear-the-locals horror in the vein of 'Deliverance'. Once you've gotten over the fact that it's a movie you've seen many times before, the premise is still chillingly enjoyable, and the last shot of the film is positively mesmerizing.

A strong case for mandatory sterilization of British yokels. The ending will leave such a bad taste in your mouth you'll wish you'd eaten a barrel of pickled barnacles instead.

Taut tense drama that is particularly disturbing not only because of the level of violence inflicted by a gang of youths sucked into "covering their tracks", but because of the innocent "touch paper" that was lit early in the film ... something we have all done when confronted by people who piss us off. By no means a classic, It was however well acted, realistic ( in the main ) and as nerve jangling a film as you could wish to see, although the ending was contrived. Kelly Reilly was Excellent

Starts of good, but after a car accident in the beginning the protagonists show they have zero survival instinct and are so incredibly stupid that the film loses its realism and becomes less enjoyable.

A nice thriller that maintains the tension throughout.The ending was unsatisfying and felt stupid and contrived.

Very 'realistic'. Which is a bad thing.

At first annoyingly cliched, and not fantastically acted, this film rapidly moves into quality horror territory. Combining fewer 'jump' moments than you might expect, and a lot more tense build-up, the plot ratchets tighter and tighter around the main characters. The interactions from the first meeting of the 'goodies' and 'baddies' is all too believable, and represents familiar fears and situations to real life. Excellently directed, and beautifully uncompromising. An excellent horror offering.

Brilliant, realistic and brutal.
