A wonderfully enigmatic slow burn, with a compelling story and an intriguing set of characters - not least Jedburgh, who is a brilliant creation. I just wish I could have seen this in '85, when it was even more thematically relevant.

If you were expecting a miniseries packed with explosions and car chases, than don't. 'Edge of Darkness' is a masterpiece of television that managed to do what no conspirational action film disguised as a noir did before - be gripping yet subtle, innovative and down to earth. It's a bit dense, but it has that neo-noir atmosphere with Clapton's soundtrack, fantastic plot development and a political background that moves the story forward. One of the best shows TV ever offered.

I think, after a long period of reflection, that this is the best TV show I've ever seen. I can't think of much else that comes close, although then again I connect with its themes and I freaking adore the BBC.
