"The imcomprehensible behaviour, body language and dialog all make this into an art film that is not as lurid as it sounds, but is pointless nevertheless."

Enjoyable for the most part thanks to the atmosphere it creates. The influence of real horror/mystery literature (Rampo) -- not just familiar tropes from the pink/roman porno/"erotic thriller" genres -- is clear. Not too much deep meaning beyond that, but enough to place it above most of its cohorts. The carousel scene from Kaneto's "Tree Without Leaves" seems to have been pulled from this.
