Awesome hair scenes and as expected from Sono some very cool and weird characters (Yamazaki). Unfortunately you have to suffer through a lot of bad and boring dialogs before something interesting happens.

It may or may not have been good, but it sure as hell was entertaining.

Truly weird! I thought this would be a horror film with supernatural elements... turns out I severely underestimated the amount of supernatural - the film practically redefines that genre. This is like the polar opposite of a Hitchcock thriller - minimum psychological character stuff, maximum surreal hair rage! What it lacks in meat, it makes up for in surprising ways that possessed hair strands can kill you - and the ending has to be seen to be believed! Sion Sono is truly off his rocker!

Sono present his eccentric story with restless rage, making way for some intense moments of hysterical comedy and tragedy (at the very same time), suggesting harsh realities through dizzy surrealism. Intensely preoccupied with the absurd, constantly playful, and all the time somewhere between bitingly gloomy and berserkly humorous, it's a stressed, hairy satire.

this one is a beauty; all those picturesque scenes of hair growing out of peoples' eyes and mouths, and a menacing if slightly baffling villain. just needed a bit more story-meat.
