Summary: A young boy gets jolted with electricity as he's climbing a tall cable pylon. As he gets older, he experiences intense fits of violence in which bolts of electricity burt from his fists. Elsewhere in Tokyo, there is an electronics wizard who also happens to be a vigilante with a taste for electric weapons. When the pair catch each other's attention, the result is a battle that will light up the city. (imdb)

There's an exuberant sense of motion to this insane short film that would serve a music video, or even a series of music videos, well, but stretched over 55 minutes it has no where to go but erratically, in all directions; an interesting spectacle but with little direction. As an attempt at live-action anime, this may just be trying to have some fun, but aside from some accomplished camera work here and there, this is just bad cinema.

Add 30 points to my score if this is Ishii's cynical, self-referential critique of reheated V-cinema Japanese cyberpunk. But something tells me it isn't.

"A revisitation of the cyberpunk craze with its fetish for metal and industrial power, only instead of going for an intense and gritty violent atmosphere as with Tetsuo, this flick goes for humor... Loud, over-the-top, blackly bizarre, stylish, and somewhat amusing."

The other side of the " Tetsuo / Iron Man" Coin, really funky and annoying. Not for everyone but a good work by Ishii.. Ishii who worked in the early 80´s with "einstürzende neubauten" on the Videoclip 1/2 Human is a grat Director and writer. Another gorgeous Movie is Dead End Run from 2003 for all Critickers who gave that Movie not a 0 ;)
