Watts gives an extraordinary performance here, and the film is at parts hilarious.

I can't say that Ellie Parker is worth your time, unless you need something else telling you that you will never have a successful career in Hollywood. If you really do need that, I can still think of a better way. Go to a downtown street, and stop every single person who passes you. Try acting for them, and see if they think you're any good. It'll be fun, trust me. At least, I'm sure it'll be more fun than watching Ellie Parker, and, who knows, maybe you'll get some encouraging feedback.

Top notch Watts performance, as always. Movie is so forgettable, though.

Uneven in parts, but ultimately an great character study with a wonderful performance by Naomi Watts. The only real problem I had with the movie is that it kind of fizzles out rather than ends, but life is like that too.

I only watched it for Watts and only enjoyed it for Watts. It's severely flawed but still oddly enjoyable for some very good moments amongst the indie clichés.

Shot with a (shaky) handheld camera, this movie about a struggling Australian actress looks and feels like a documentary, and while I know very little about trying to make it in Hollywood, this looks real and true and honest.
The most important part of the movie is an amazing performance by Naomi Watts, possibly her best performance yet. She is so good as an actress that is almost good, but just can't quite make it in this crazy world of constant pressure and rejection. Watts is the center of

The important thing in a character piece like this is that you like the characters. I honestly couldn't give a crap about the superficial, self absorbed LA half people portrayed in this film. I found it painful to watch and only got half way through.
The over indy style of it has hard to sit through too. No one who is this bad with a hand held should be allowed to film ANYTHING. I've done plenty of zero budget stuff and none of it looked this bad. And Naomi, stop spiking the camera! Avoid.
