A fantastic location, meticulous period detail, and four quality actresses... all completely wasted on this soporific, directionless jumble of a script. There's not nearly enough meat in the story and none of the characters are interesting enough to make you care. The director's only attempt to make that happen seems to be some impromptu voiceovers from the ladies. For a film about escaping rainy England for the Italian countryside, it felt incredibly cold and detached. Pretty good score though.
