An impressive action-packed film and one of my favourite 'flight' action films (there's quite a few of them around). Kurt Russell leads the pack as Dr. David Grant who tries to stop a group of terrorists on a plane. Good storyline and characters plus the actors all gave believable performances. Halle Berry is also perfect as flight attendant Jean. Overall its similar to the other 'flight' action films from the 90's but probably stands out as the best thanks to the cast & storyline.
Enjoyable slow-paced thriller about commandos trying to take down terrorists that have hijacked a plane, while simultaneously trying to discover the identity of a hidden member. Lots of the commandos end up dying throughout the picture and there is a pervading sense of tension the film exploits. The problem is that there's not enough content for 90 minutes; there are about 45-50 quality minutes, and lots of stalling. The final upbeat ending totally doesn't match the mood of the picture, either.
Absolutely stonking action film which relentlessly throws its characters into increasingly tense and high-stakes situations. It's packed with heroic alpha male egos and menacing villains, and the high-tech gadgetry is pushed to the very limits of imagination while never becoming impossibly ridiculous. Great cast, great story, and it all feels frighteningly real. This film is tight, gripping, intelligent, and deserves a place among the classics of the genre.
3 words make this movie great: Seagal Dies Early! Seriously, though, this was a surprsingly decent action movie. Good acting, plausible story and effects, just overall entertaining.
One of those films that so cheesy and generally shit that it ends up being enjoyable and fun. The cast is a real who's who of actors from the "I recognise you but where from?" files.
Much better than I was expecting. Surprisingly strong performance from Kurt Russell. Frankly I think this is one of the best "terrorists have hijacked an airplane" movies I've ever seen. Somehow despite the over-the-top plot and ridiculous rescue mission the film maintains a very nice sense of suspense and realism compared to other films of this genre.
Major points scored for an event that happens in the first few minutes of the film that was totally unexpected. Other than that, a pretty routine "thriller" of the sort I don't have much use for.
