She becomes involved in an affair with their director friend, David, which leads to a painful divorce and battle for custody of their daughter, Isabelle. Moments of pain, moments of boredom, moments of Josephson staring off into space. Rarely a moment passes that doesn't leave me with regret that Bergman couldn't finish this himself, problems seem to arise in every facet. I can't decide if the good outweighs the bad.

While Lena put on an acting clinic, this just didn't move me quite like SFAM, nonetheless still excellent. Also, good job Liv. She must have had one hell of a mentor.

It's solid and heavy handed drama. If Bergman had shot the script, the movie would lean towards artistic impression where long dialogues are negative spaced by moments of silence. Ullman obviously plays on feelings which are on their own believable, but as an endless flood becomes tiresome. Still Faithless as a whole holds up well.

An unusual idea, and the themes are pure Bergman, but excessive narration bogs it down. Lots of long flashbacks with voice-over telling us how the characters felt. It's very cold and distancing. Show, don't tell. Underdeveloped and overlong at 150 minutes, but some moments of good insight make it somewhat worthwhile.
