Summary: During shopping for Christmas, Frank and Molly run into each other. This fleeting short moment will start to change their lives, when they recognize each other months later in the train home and have a good time together. I'll admit it. This is not a good movie. Yet I'm drawn to it. Perhaps it's New York at Christmas time, or it's the obvious link to Brief Encounter (a much much better film). I don't know why, but I watch it every year or so.

De Niro comes off as a weird creeper, and the whole thing is just a boring mess. The chemistry between the two leads is non-existent.

Christ, this is ridiculous. One of several movies in which De Niro demonstrates that he can't pass himself off as a normal person to save his sorry ass (at least in a non-boring way). In the scenes where he's kissing Streep, he looks like he's eating her
