Very entertaining. Mildly sags in the middle, but is bookended strongly. Also, the animation fits the feel of the film wonderfully.

Remarkably charming, though a little heavy on Wes Anderson's trademark indie magic. The animation gives it more heft than the script deserves.

Wes Anderson always makes things interesting. The voices were great, and I really enjoyed how the movie was made (doll characters). I got a little bored with it and think it could have been better.

Anderson's wised-up children's film, a labor-intensive stop-motion animated adaptation of the Dahl animal tale. Though the droll result has its charms, such as the use of "cuss" as an all-purpose cussword, as in "I sure the cuss hope so," it's not so much for children as a group or adults as a group as it is specifically for devotees of Anderson, who is able to pursue with puppets and miniature sets his standard visual predilections

Very enjoyable...but I wouldn't say fantastic. All the elements are there...its just missing the sincerity and earnestness of a timeless children's classic...which I really shouldn't have been expecting from Wes anyway. A little more Dahl and a little less Anderson would have been the ticket. The animation is cool and marries well with the physical comedy.

2009 has been a great year for animation, and this is a spectacular example. The film is almost Tarantino-style, with its witty dialogue, loveable action scenes, and hilarious humour. The animation is very unusual, but to be fair, I am already fed up with the smooth Pixar style. This is really refreshing to see.

Fantastic Mr. Fox imagines its countryside critters as a sort of subculture amidst humanity, affecting them with all the character traits and personal hang-ups of people. It's equally quirky, hilarious and joyful as it pits Clooney's eponymous agent of reckless abandon versus the ultimate, natural party-poopers (the farmers, of course). For a film ostensibly about animals, it's deeply humanist.

Very pretty, somewhat witty, but not enough to please. The dialogue is typical Anderson, which is worn a little thin in this movie for adult children, with characters that lack the depth that would have been required to offset their excessive quirkiness. I definitely enjoyed many of the colorful touches in this film, but the stories development was too abrupt and the plot not cohesive enough, and ultimately I felt my plate was only half full, and yearned for the heart that was missing.

Wes Anderson may not have made the perfect Roald Dahl adaptation but he has made something equally as delightful; a film with spirit and joy pouring from the screen, a film imbued with ecstatic hilarity. In short, a fantastic Wes Anderson film.

A pretty good animated film. I feel if I had read the story when I was in my childhood I would've enjoyed it more. The animation is extremely well done and a joy to watch. There was a certain feeling to this movie, either in the character's delivery or the overall direction, that turned me off a fair bit though, and prevented this from being a truly great movie for me. Either way a decent film.

I love the look of the animation and the design of the characters. Anderson does a better job here blending music into his films than he has done in his last couple of films--it seems less self-aware here, more organic. The laughs pile up in a kind of snowball effect, with the best ones coming near the end. The voice case is great, though Jason Schwartzman's Ash has got to be the funniest character I've seen in quite some time. Excellent film all around.

starts off great: the animation and the world Anderson creates is terrific for the film. The characters are quirky and funny, but then, the film imperceptibly loses something. It's as if the story and characters plateau or don't keep moving in an interesting direction. It's frustrating because I wanted the film to work, but for some hard to pin down reason, it doesn't.

Absolutely amazing. A shriveled yet warm and gentle humour pervades the film. I was in complete awe of the story, creativity, voice-over and amount of detail that was put into it. It's fair to say Pixar ("Up") doesn't stand alone this year. I wouldn't mind seeing this film or "Mary and Max" pick up the oscar for best animated feature. Sit back and enjoy.

It retains Anderson's meticulous visual compositions and his keen wit, verbal and visual, and it clips along at a diverting, enjoyable pace. Still, aside from a third-act funeral for a departed foe, Fantastic Mr Fox's ruminations on human nature -- are we civilized or savage at heart? -- are too slight to really register.

A refreshing antithesis to the crop of cg animation, Fantastic Mr Fox provides the witty dialogue and fallible characters typical of Anderson's films. As a comedy, it can be too blunt at times to be funny, relying on the crude animation for charm, but overall the style keeps it on track. The film seems unsure whether to be a kids film or not, with dialogue and plot focused on existential angst while the contents and art are targeted at the preteen market.

One of the best times I've had in the theater this year. While the plot is the most straight forward of any Anderson film and it lacks his usual quirky depth, Fox spends much more time devoted to comedy. The film is absolutely gorgeous too. Much more Wes Anderson than Roald Dahl, but its great nonetheless.

What a fun movie. I never figured Anderson's dry and witty humor would translate so perfectly into a children's movie. All of the voice actors did terrific jobs making these "wild animals" seem not so wild. The story was fresh and entertaining, and the vintage style stop motion was absolutely beautiful.

Though this film is a great example of a Roald Dahl adaptation because it is both idiosyncratic and heartfelt, somehow the parts don't usually add up to an entirely cohesive film.

As the book is so quintessentially English the lack of Anglo inspiration is a touch of a shame. But this really is a minor quibble. You can forgive this film its little errors, because when the animation and the voice acting are just this perfect, the errors just don't matter. Very well written & just beautiful to behold, once again Anderson's subtle, yet often vibrant style pours out of his filmmaking. Anderson brings the spirit, if not the word of Dahl leaping out of the screen.
