It's hardly the perfect action movie (Maggie Grace's character is pointless/annoying. Come to think of it, the entire contract killer B-story with Jackson-Cohen could be cut without losing much). But I have been waiting so long for The Rock to return to making movies like this that just the sight of him brutally murdering people is enough to draw a positive score. Great music from Clint Mansell, and I dig the grimy visual aesthetic. It's a modern take on 70s revenge flicks -- just needs levity.

Good Movie

It's not very good, but it's kind of fun for a revenge flick. At the very least this movie brought the action star Rock from his shitty kid's movie self-exile.

the irony is that's it's not even a film

faster is one of those action movies the actually looks bad on paper, even in a preview, yet somehow overcomes everything and turns it's self into a pretty good movie. i laughed at the nods here and there to the .454 revolver that the rock was using knowing that i have actually fired a higher caliber pistol myself.

The story have few surprises, but in other hand it's a cheap action film.

Of all the wrestlers-turned-actors The Rock is the best (by far - he's almost always believable as the character he is playing) but he doesn't really get used to his potential in this film. He rarely talks for the first 3/4 of the movie, and when he does get the chance his character is so humorless that you just want him to find peace already and get off your screen. The villain, appropriately named Killer, is more interesting and I was actually quite pleased with his fate at the end.

It's hard to sympathize with people who hated this movie. You all knew what you were getting into.

Other than the Rock, it's not really worth mentioning, and even he's barely entertaining, especially without his smile.

Predicable action/thriller with some real solid acting (mainly) and tones of style.

The Rock does his job as an angry, vendictive killer who tracks down his brothers killers one by one... Everything else is completely and utterly crap and i cant imagine why BBT agreed to star in this piece of s...! Faster has one of the most annoying and misplaced subplots (The hitman one) I have ever seen, and the extra 5 points goes to Clint Mansells score. Apparantly CM, who has made some brilliant OST's for Aranofskys films has also done Doom, Trust the Man, Smokin' Aces and Sahara! WTF!

"Faster" is a fast and stylish but ultimately floundering disappointment. Several interesting yet unresolved plot devices are introduced, and the ending does nothing to satisfy the gnawing questions this film will leave with you. Taken at face value, however, "Faster" is a satisfying action/revenge flick for those simply looking for something to kill an hour and a half.

There was no sense of pacing at all. The Killer was totally unnecessary for the story, and majority of the plot was predictable. There was a lot of weak scenes. I did not get the title. I think it was a bad choice. You could call it The Metal as well, so cool The Rock tried to be.

Starts pretty well but then becomes very boring very fast. The Rock could do a lot better.

It has some minor pleasure as a revenge thriller but The Rock is burying all the charisma we know for a fact he has from The Rundown, etc., and one character we invest a LOT of time into ends up having jack fucking shit impact on the movie's resolution (I like to call this "most of the cast of Lost syndrome").

The director intends to strip down bloated revenge sagas to their most basic elements. He also strips them of feeling. Dwayne Johnson is back in action mode, but he's more machine than Schwarzenegger ever played. Is this style? Is Director Tillman trying to say something here? We're never quite sure. If you're going to make a gritty revenge thriller, why flatten leftovers? It's a pleasure to see The Rock back in action mode, but I think he deserves better than a film that holds back.

FASTER is possibly The Rock's best performance though not his best film: that'd be WALKING TALL or BE COOL. FASTER had a strong lead (The Rock), and a cut the crap style that skipped all character/setting introduction and backstory but cut right to The Rock killing someone. The film didn't always make sense, but was always fun. A lot more than I can say for thousands of films I've seen.

Straight up pulp with an honest-to-God sense of moral reckoning that keeps delivering with verve, suspense, and real drama. An intense overachiever.

Minus the horrendous subplots this was exactly what I was hoping it would be. The Rock does his thing and it's pretty enjoyable throughout but whenever The Rock isn't on screen you really start to miss him just shooting niggas in the face randomly. Would love to do a shitty actress battle royale: Jennifer Carpenter vs Maggie Grace, god you 2 are awful.

The hitman really was a vestigial organ to the film, but other than him it was really cool.

This was absolutely surprising! While the trailer wanted to suggest it's viewer, that "faster" is some kind of a non stop action flick, the movie is absolutely better! It's intense, brutal and gripping. There is only one problem. The director created too many story lines for each character. The result are some confusing intentions. Overall "Faster" is really great, and that was unexpected!

So help me, I liked it. Beware, though, this isn't what you probably expect. It's, surprisingly, not fast-paced and it is not cool. Those wanting wall-to-wall action will be frustrated when The Rock starts tearing up and Billy Bob hangs out with his kid. Bland as the subplots may be, I thought that the overall storyline was pretty decent and found myself entertained and engaged in equal measure. Perhaps I was just in the right mood. A score by the god that is Clint Mansell doesn't hurt matters.

Dwayne Johnson is the only thing this movie has going for it, but it strays away from him far too much to be anything remotely interesting.

As entertaining as I had expected it to be, but surprisingly slow for a movie called Faster. It's pretty ordinary, but different from what we normally see Dwayne Johnson star in.

I think this is the Rocks best performance so far and the film is quite decent with the biblical connotations to the revenge/forgiveness theme.

Faster doesn't really do anything wrong, its all well paced and competently directed, with the few shootouts showing a refreshing focus on ballistic mayhem; where every round fired takes a chunk out of a wall or bursts a steam valve. The real loss is in the lack of any real character depth: Johnson's character is a single minded revenge drone and his targets are largely nameless archetypes with little to do in the film but face the inevitable and anticlimactic wrath of a sociopathic loner.
