It was alright in the '90's....Which means very little considering a good 80% of movies that were churned out then were suck fests.

Incredibly stupid, conservative and anti-sex but there's a lot of "90s erotic teen thriller" fun to be had if you shut your brain off and enjoy all the trashy melodrama and 90s aesthetics (even though the cheap thrills of Marky Mark shirtless at his peak and Reese Witherspoon's short skirts can't hide the abysmal script). The infamous rollercoaster fingerbang scene however is genuinely amazing and perfect in every way (hence a higher score here then it actually deserves).

It was a good setup, but had a drastic change for the ending. The film over all was good, but do you realize how many films would not be feasible if only people owned a gun like they should?

While the idea's been done before and we all know how the story ends it was still quite enjoyable and thanks to some great acting performances it was better than it should have been. Mark Wahlberg is spot-on as the perfect boyfriend turned creepy psycho, and Reese Witherspoon was also a great choice to play his victim. Its fairly low on action but the final scene is where it all heats up for one hell of a finale. Overall its what to expect from a 90's Thriller but still enough here to enjoy!

Fear is a film that ends up wearing out its welcome way before it ends, but still leaves you wanting some questions answered. It's too long, but you want more. Maybe scenes that should have been included were edited out, and ones that are redundant were included, I'm not sure. What I do know is that this isn't a thriller that completely satisfies, even if it has a strong cast and a good enough premise.

Sometimes laughable; " Now I popped both your cherries!", sometimes fairly creepy (rollercoaster) but never really suspenseful or thrilling.

it's got a lot of terrible ratings on here, but I'm a sucker for thrillers and this one isn't all that bad, is it? It's a cliche genre movie and it doesn't have nearly enough balls for my taste (its all in the story, the execution could have been grittier) but it has pretty good performances and I'm a fan of the genre. The whole finale is a worse version of the Straw Dogs ending, but if you're going to copy, copy from the best. I just wish this movie had the balls of straw dogs or cape fear.

A film that constantly makes one wonder why the hell he is watching it. From an idea perspective, its point is that...some boyfriends are violent and possessive? Really? From an entertainment perspective, we get to see Wahlberg act ANGRY and beat guys up in standard, boring scenes. So, what's the reason to watch this? Perhaps so girls can stare at Marky Mark's toned abs, and guys can marvel at Milano and Witherspoon's breasts? Fuck that; I expect a legitimate movie here, not softcore porn!
