The music tries to fool you into thinking this is more melodramatic then it really is. You can almost see the guys sitting in the editing bay just going "Hey, here's an emotional moment...lets put in a overbearing orchestra section in!" *high fives all around* Still, this movie is justified cause Hitchcock saw it and found out about Perkins and thus Norman Bates was born. Also, that dad needed to be kicked in the balls.
