Summary: Amélie, a dreamy and romantic young Belgian woman, arrives in Japan to begin work as a translator for the giant Yumimoto Corporation. For Amélie, who spent her childhood in Japan, this is a dream come true. But unfamiliar with the customs of the Japanese workplace, she commits a series of cultural missteps and is singled out as a deviant within the company. Unable to stop her downfall, Amélie suddenly stumbles upon her own extraordinary means of liberation. (Cinema Guild Theatrical)

I'm not sure what kept me watching this. I suppose it's kind of amusing, kind of well-acted, kind of a lot of stuff, but nothing I'll ever return to.

It's an insult to a viewer. Feels like the director haven't seen a single book adaptation in his life. He forgets that film is a visual medium and tries to narrate a lot of scenes where it is completely unnecessary. Also to ensure viewer that staff begind this film has no clue how to make movies there is Bach music thrown here and there completely out of place. I could have talked for hours about faults of this film, but it would be a wasted time. Just don't watch it.

"Its cultural baggage is sketchy, but the film remains a funny, depressingly honest look at the soul-sucking drudgery of the corporate workspace." - Ed Gonzalez

The first part of the movie, contains Kafkaesque elements, which made me feel very uncomftable from time to time, and even lost on the red sofa located in the middle of my living room. The rest of the movie is just dull and meaningless in the most literaly way there is.

Sometimes hilarious, some times appalling. Been there, done that, and this flick tells it true!
