This deeply considered Peter Weir drama is a good object lesson in Jeff Bridges' talents. Bridges is so naturalistic that it can look casual, especially up against the effective raw wailing of Oscar nominee Rosie Perez as a fellow survivor grieving her dead son. The complexities of his performance exist in shaded expressions and questing eyes. Weir's usual elegant directing showcases Bridges' work, even it is occasionally susceptible to some minor dents in the script.

Underrated masterpiece. No one went to see it because they were freaked out by plane crash and its aftermath. Jeff Bridges is brilliant.

Truly interesting, unconventional take on the overcoming of trauma. Well-written. Nothing more, but that should be enough.

Another one of those films that I loved -- loved -- more than anyone else I knew. Jeff Bridges was very, very good...& in case you're worried about Rosie Perez - she's at her least annoying here. An underrated gem.

Fearless is a lot like The Mosquito Coast in that it's about a man who alienates himself from those who love him most. It's a lot more intense and isn't afraid to explore controversial subjects. And you can't have a bad movie with a Volvo in it.

An absorbing movie--vastly underrated, expertly directed by Peter Weir--that deals with serious issues, such as destiny, death and the purpose of life, without ever becoming sappy or pretentious. Jeff Bridges is even better than usual (which is saying a helluva lot) and Rosie Perez--yes, Rosie Perez--gives a restrained and nuanced performance.

Most compelling to me when Bridges and Perez aren't the focus of the plot. Bridges plays the kind of character that just rubs me the wrong way, not to mention the asinine Jesus analogies. I loved the group-therapy scene and was hoping the rest of the movie would be about these people and their struggle. Very interesting, though, how the movie dances around the idea of ego-death and non-religious transcendence as therapeutic experiences. It's more subtext than explicit, but it's definitely there.

This is one long emotional rollercoaster of a movie that deals with loss, of course fear, but also living after you were supposed to have died. If you know, you know, and I do having survived a car crash, which is what inspired the movie's writer. Jeff Bridges is exceptional, so is Rosie Perez.

Superb drama about surviving still being alive after a plane crash. Few films tackle such weighty themes with such a human and emotionally resonant touch. It is criminal that this was only available as a pan 'n scan for 20 years.

A pretty special (yet a tad pretentious) film due to Jeff Bridge's incredibly performance (his best. Suck on that, Crazy Heart). Amazingly, he wasn't nominated for an Oscar for this film; Rosie Perez was, the actress who brought this film down quite a few pegs due to her aggravating, annoying, and overstated performance.

"No one apologizes anymore. They write memoirs." True story. As for the film itself and its themes, I liked it, but I think some scenes were sorta cringeworthy and my mind wandered a few times. Still, it is pretty engaging and thought-provoking and 'different', which is good.
