If you must have edginess from your cartoon animals, watch something with more depth like Watership Down, more visually interesting like Plague Dogs, or something that doesn't flaunt its defiance of convention, like Secret of NIMH. With the latter two you can even keep the hokey animal-testing theme which is NOT comparable to Nazi medical experiments god shut up shut up SHUT UP
At first it looks like a children's movie, then a teen movie, and then something you would never show anyone under 18:). The story itself is fairly interesting, it deals with a feline-Sherlock trying to solve a multiple murder case. What makes the movie unique is the reference to Nazi genetic experiments, a fair amount of Gore and pretty much the only sex -scene between cats you'll find in western cinematography. All in all I recommend it to all fans of adult animation.
Hardboiled murder mystery among a neighborhood of cats. An animated cat story sounds lame on paper, but this is no Disney special: the movie was freaky, full of cursing and very violent (several cats are mutilated and/or electrocuted). The main cat Francis has twisted fever dreams and nails slutty pussies along the way to discovering the murderer. Not one for the children, this flick is fucked up, but the animation is very nice.
