Lacking the punch and sharp wit of an in-form Fleischer diversion, Messmer's Felix in Hollywood also wants for the peculiar wit and charm of his own Feline Follies and Felix Turns the Tide. Simply an onslaught of bland, dubious gags built upon a plot that might well have ushered in genuine subversiveness, this becomes an especially trying work of repetition and simpleness. It has precisely one good gag in its long nine-and-a-half minutes.

Most cartoons don't do anything for me, but for some reason I still dig these 1920s efforts with Felix

Simple style works well, gets a few laughs with a nice little story.

An animated Chaplin is the only stand out gag in this otherwise unremarkable silent short.
