Film Geek has a likable premise and a pleasantly homemade indie feel. Unfortunately, its lead character is so irritating you want to get away from him.

The ending was pretty funny. The film was enjoyable but that grating geek voice got on my nerves after awhile. Maybe that was the point

It had its moments; I particularly enjoyed seeing different parts of Portland, OR. Sadly, in the end, like so many other films that have come before, it suffered from too many gratuitous shots of the main character masturbating into a sink.

Almost immediately, I thought of Cinemania and wasn't at all surprised to learn that it was an inspiration. It's shot well for a low-budget film, and even the acting isn't that bad, except for the overdone geek voice. I also always get a kick out of seeing local places I've been to. And I liked the "surprise" ending, even if they broadcast it a little too obviously. Still, the movie is really just one joke over and over again, with no development and little variation. It gets old quick.

A pure caricature (1-dimensional would b an understatment) that might''ve worked in a mildly amusing short & best in an SNL skit, he's regrettably dragged out 2 feature length. There's a moment in the film where the awkwardness is no longer played 4 laughs & the viewer is drawn in 2 to sympathize with Scotty as his geekiness begins to resemble something more akin 2 a painful mental disorder, but Westby pulls away from this choosing 2 return 2 the upbeat one-note "comedy" he's crafted.
